The Hullabaloos

Music at DG featured a group called the Hullabaloos that played lots of music from the 1960's. They were great.

A day in Georgetown

The day after the Coldplay concert we went to Georgetown. We started at the mall. We enjoyed the walk near the canal and made our way around the busy streets. Mom did a little shopping.

Coldplay concert conclusion

One of Coldplay's bigger hits is a song
called "Yellow".

Coldplay rocks and I get caught up in the magic...
Chris plays a piece solo. It is marvelous.

Oh yeah! How about the great t-shirt?

The constant changes in the lighting patterns were fascinating.

I plan to do a painting of this shot. I love the close up of Chris on the backdrop against the real Chris at the piano.

One of the most beautiful moments came as thousands, maybe millions of paper butterflies were released, exploding above the crowd. My parents and I gathered as many as we could and I brought them home as souvenirs.
The concert lasted beyond this point and I got a few more shots. I will remember this concert always.

Coldplay concert continued

As the sound starts, the crowd roars with approval and the band delivers from the first note. Life in Technicolor is the name of the first song and it has never been more obvious than what it projects to me and the audience as Coldplay jams.

Rock concerts are about more than music. There are many technical aspects, but the most thrilling after the songs are the lighting effects which are constant and breathtaking.
The guys take the stage.

Chris Martin is the lead vocalist and plays guitar and beautiful keyboards. Will Champion plays drums and does backup vocals. Jonny Buckland plays lead guitar while Guy Berryman plays bass.

Coldplay concert continued

Mom and Dad smile for the camera as the crowd awaits the headline act.

In the growing darkness, the VIVA balloon is now a powerful presence. The crowd gets settled as the band takes the stage.

Coldplay concert continued

The antcipation grows while the warm up band keeps us entertained.
As twilight descends, the trees provide a colorful backdrop.

The VIVA baloon starts to become really impressive as the sun goes down.

The second warm up band was Pete Yorn. They played some very good music also, but I could hardly wait to hear COLDPLAY.

Coldplay concert

This past Thursday, My parents and I attended a concert by the rock band Coldplay. They are my favorite group. It was a perfect day at the Nissan Pavilion near Washington, DC.

The name of the concert was Viva La Vida. This large balloon hovered over the grass where a large portion of the audience was seated.

The first act to go on was a group called "Howling Bells". Their lead singer was a girl with a very nice voice named Juanita.

Saturday at the Daily Grind

Sorry for the delay in getting these pictures loaded. I finally got my lazy dad back to work...

Here is Samantha, the newest member and current mascot of the Daily Grind crew.
Here is my friend Jenine. She is so very sweet.

Jenine in a more pensive pose. She is really beautiful.

Dianne, hard at her needlework. A picture of concentration followed by one of triumph.

My friends at the Daily Grind. There's Bill (from Left) Trevor (T-Spoon as I call him) and the wonderful Edna.
Here is my good friend Sam with Allison, Jenine, Bill and Trevor nearby.

Portraits of Dianne and Jenine together and of a smiling Trevor made the trip to Daily Grind well worth the trip.

Edna rushed home to gather these lovely blooms, and returned with them for her friend Dianne.

The reading

Linda Dini Jenkins reads excerpts from her book, Up at the Villa, for a rapt audience. Her stories were wonderful and filled with warmth and humor. She has seen much of Europe, especially Italy, and I hope that someday I can see the world as she has.

A moment of affection between Allison and Jenine during the book reading on Friday evening. Jenine is such a loving daughter.

My friend Kendall at her concert

My friend Kendall Beck (center of bottom row in blue) performs tonight with her Chorus at Lee Davis High School. I was so happy to be there to see her!
